NETHERLANDS – ABP Investments has named Edwina Neal as chief investment officer of equities and board member from March 1.
British-born Neal, 44, will take over from former capital markets CIO Jan Straatman, who’s left to join the Pearl Group in the UK.
An equities fund manager, she’s been with the Dutch civil service scheme since 2002. She will be responsible for ABP’s €70bn equities portfolio, and will report to CIO Roderick Munsters.
When Straatman left his capital markets role was split between fixed income and equities, an ABP spokesperson told IPE.
Arnold Shapiro, the co-chief investment officer of fixed income, has become CIO of fixed income.
The ABP Investments Board is chaired by Munsters. Other members include alternative investment CIO Paul Spijkers, chief operating officer Ton Berendson and asset allocation and research CIO Tom Steenkamp.
Straatman will take up a new CIO position at Pearl – entrepreneur Hugh Osmond’s life assurance fund investment vehicle – on March 1.
