NETHERLANDS - The €211bn civil service scheme ABP has named two new members on the board of directors, including Sluimers' replacement as chief financial officer (CFO).

Andre ten Damme has been appointed as the successor of Dick Sluimers, who moved from his role of CFO to become chief executive officer earlier this year, while Jo van Engelen has been selected for the new position of chief marketing officer.

Ten Damme, 43, will be responsible for group control, actuarial services, internal accountancy and legal matters at the pension fund, as well as giving direction to the asset liability management of the scheme, said ABP.

The new CFO currently holds a similar position at IT firm Cap Gemini Netherlands, where he is also in charge of IT, facilities and procurement.

Van Engelen, 48, is a member of the board of directors of the Dutch automobile association ANWB, with specific responsibility for members' and marketing portfolios.

According to ABP, the new CMO has been a professor business development at the Rijksuniversiteit Groningen since 1991, after graduating with a thesis on IT and marketing at Twente University.

Elco Brinkman, ABP's chairman, is enthusiastic about the experience of both new directors.

"Both have built-up ample expertise within their own discipline at large organisations," he said.
