UK - Allianz Dresdner’s asset management division has hired a senior risk and performance executive from Merrill Lynch Investment Managers.

Allianz Dresdner Asset Management, part of German insurance giant Allianz, said it has named Peter Lockyer as global head of performance and portfolio risk for its equity division.

He will join the company on March 1 and will be based in London. He joins from MLIM, where he was head of risk and performance for the Europe, Middle East and Africa and Pacific regions, supervising the activities of the performance and risk teams in London, Tokyo and Melbourne.

Lockyer will report to Andreas Utermann, chief investment officer of the unit’s equities division.

"At a time of prolonged market volatility this appointment is more important than ever,” Utermann said. “Peter has a proven track record of performance and risk management and his role will be essential to ensure that we are delivering the best possible performance for our clients across all our equities platforms, within the required risk and style parameters."
