UK – Pimco has named Rothschild Asset Management’s Michael Amey as its new head of UK fixed income.
The fixed-income fund management specialist – 91%-owned by German insurer Allianz – said Amey would join the firm as senior vice president of UK fixed income, which a spokesman said was a new role.
Insight said in a statement that it has hired Robert Gall and Andrew Wickham from Schroders Investment Management to be co-heads of fixed income. They are currently head of European and UK fixed income respectively at Schroders. It also hired Schroders’ fixed income fund manager Richard Dryer.
Pimco said Amey will report to executive vice president Emanuele Ravano and will help to develop a UK and pan-European investment strategy.
"Hiring Michael reinforces our commitment to build a top quality UK and pan-European fixed income team," said Ravano. "He is well known to major pension plans and consultants as an accomplished portfolio manager and complements PIMCO's talented team in London."
California-based PIMCO says it has won mandates worth almost 500 million pounds (705 million euros) in the past year. It manages more than 70 billion pounds in Europe and the UK.
UK bank HBOS’s investment arm Insight Investment Management bought Rothschild Asset Management last December. Late last year Schroders appointed Citigroup’s Jeremy Cave as its head of fixed income.
