DENMARK – UK-based private equity adviser and consultant Altius Associates has opened a representative office for the Nordic area in Denmark.

Steen Villemoes, former investment director at the Danish pension fund for engineers (DIP), will be the new contact for Scandinavia.

“ As a representative office, I’m going to be a liaison between the clients and London. I will develop new business in the Nordic area and also be the contact for the private equity funds that are operating in the area. That is basically the aim and goal of the office,” says Steen Villemoes.

“ The first quarter here will be mainly focused on my Danish contacts, and in March I will move on, taking a trip to Sweden and Finland and later also to Norway and Iceland.”

Altius also manages private equity portfolios, working together with its sister company Helix, a placement agent for private equity.
Says Villemoes: “ It is fair to say that Altius has a very experienced team when it comes to private equity, because we only deal with that asset class. As a company we have a broad and deep coverage of private equity markets both in Europe and in the States with our US office.”

“ With close relationships with the top-tier private equity general partners, we’re able to access many of the funds that can be somewhat difficult to get into, because they operate by invitation only,” he adds.

According to Villemoes, there are no immediate plans by Altius for opening new offices, it will concentrate on existing client s and in expanding its client base.
