NETHERLANDS - Aon Consulting has appointed Wim Hoek as a member of its executive team, the firm has announced.

Hoek, 46, will be leading the Consulting Service Lines, which cover pensions and life benefits, the actuarial advice group and care and income, as from 1 February.

Hoek's predecessor at the executive team, Peter van Solingen, left in 2005 to join insurer Winterthur.

Previously, Hoek has been working as director at the business unit pensions of Achmea Holding. In addition, he has been a member of the transparency committee of the Dutch Association of Insurers (VvV), and a board member of the Foundation for Pension Education (SPO), Aon said.

Earlier, Hoek has filled several leading positions in commercial and customer service departments at bank-insurer Fortis.

Aon's board of directors also consists of CEO Reinier Hinse - vice-chair of Aon Netherlands - and Joep Gulpen, responsible for Market Groups. In the Netherlands the company has1,500 staff, divided among 13 branches.

Elsewhere, ING's Gerbrand Nijman has been appointed Aegon's head of investor relations. He replaces Michel Hulters.

Nijman, who currently works as ING Bank's specialist equity sales director, will take up his new position on 1 March.

Hulters, who has led Aegon's investor relations for the past five years, is moving to the firm's Dutch pension operations to become senior sales manager for corporate and institutional clients.

Jos Streppel, CFO and executive board, commented that Nijman's expertise was a welcome addition given Aegon's "ambitious objectives for the coming years".

These objectives will focus mainly on further global expansion and doubling the firms business to €1bn, a spokesman said.

Prior to his role at ING Nijman was head of Investor Relations at Royal KPN.
