GERMANY - Marco Arteaga, the chairman of the management board of Mercer Deutschland, has been appointed the new chief executive of Aon Consulting in Germany.

Aon today said Arteaga will start his new position at Aon Jauch & Hübener Consulting on 1 April next year, taking over from Axel Heitkamp.

Heitkamp will now be responsible for the consulting teams in Switzerland, Austria and Hungary and have a leading role in the continued expansion of Aon Consulting in Eastern Europe.

Commenting on the appointment, Robert Middleton, chief executive of Aon Consulting EMEA, said the move came as the company aims to accelerate growth in Europe.

"As part of our strategy we plan to further expand our business in Germany," he continued, adding that Arteaga is considered the right person to spearhead the growth.

A spokeswoman for Mercer in Frankfurt told IPE Norbert Englert replaced Areaga at the firm on 1 September. He joined from PA Consulting Group.
