NETHERLANDS - The Netherlands' APG Group has appointed Tjerk Kroes as its new director of Concern Strategy and Policy, starting 1 November.

The appointment was announced by APG and by the General Governance Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Kroes joins from the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labour, where he has worked for the past nine years.

He served six of those years in his current position as director of Labour Market and Socio-Economic Affairs.

Since January 2009, he has also served as deputy director-general at the Directorate-General of Labour.

Before joining the department of Social Affairs and Labour, Kroes served as head of general economic policy at the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Telecom Agency and as head of the banking division at the Ministry of Finance.

Kroes studied economics at the University of Amsterdam, where he also took his PhD. 

APG Group consists of the General Pension Group (APG), Cordares and Loyalis.

The group comprises insurance and advisory services and manages some €275bn in pension assets.
