EUROPE – Bruce Lavine, head of Europe at Barclays Global Investors’ iShares exchange-traded funds arm, has left.
He’s joined new US ETF firm WisdomTree Investments as president and chief operating officer. He’ll be joining his former iShares colleague Ray DeAngelo, who joined the then Index Development Partners just under a year ago.
WisdomTree said Lavine had held several other senior roles at iShares since inception, including chief financial officer and director of new product development. "I can confirm Bruce Lavine has left BGI/iShares after 10 years," said a BGI spokeswoman.
"Bruce will be a critical part of the WisdomTree management team, and will play a key role in executing our business plan to become a leading asset management company," said WisdomTree chief executive and founder Jonathan Steinberg.
WisdomTree, founded in November 2004, offers asset management services and intends to become a sponsor of investment funds and other financial products.
Since launch its been building its team, with hires including Loraine McEvoy as director of consultant relations (ex-Investment Management Solutions) and Julie Silcox as marketing director (ex-Bank of America).
Other executives appointed include: Marc Ruskin as CFO and Michael Jackson as director of fund services.
Jackson was formerly director of global index market at UBS Global Asset Management while Ruskin is a former CFO at RiskMetrics.
