UK – Baring Asset Management has hired Andrew Edgington from Northern Trust Global Investments to be head of product development.
“In the role, Andrew will be responsible for the development of BAM’s institutional and retail product ranges,” Baring said. Edgington will focus on developing products to take advantage of new UCITS legislation, and on broadening alternative investment offerings.
Edgington reports to George Harvey, head of sales, client services and business development.
He joins from Northern Trust Global Investments, where he was a product manager. Richard Bartholomew, NTGI’s head of product development wished him well and said that he would definitely be replaced. NTGI is in the process of hiring two product managers, he said.
BAM’s Harvey said: “Andrew’s appointment underlines BAM’s commitment to developing innovative product offerings for our clients.
“We’re particularly keen to take advantage of the new legislation coming into force next year and we also plan to enhance our range of alternative investment products, where we see considerable opportunity for growth.
Baring Asset Management, part of ING, manages more than 19 billion pounds (27.2 billion euros).
