UK – The Occupational Pensions Regulatory Authority (Opra) has appointed Wendy Beaver and Laurie Edmans as members of its board with effect from April for one year, replacing John Bowman and Sue Ward whose one-year term of office has expired.

Beaver is an actuary and European partner with consultancy firm, William M. Mercer and was formerly chief actuary in the government’s social security and pensions policy directorate. She was nominated by the Association of Consulting Actuaries, Faculty of Actuaries and the Institute of Actuaries.

Edmans is director of corporate development at Aegon UK and has almost 40 years experience in the life and pensions business. He was nominated by the Association of British Insurers (ABI), whose pensions committee he has chaired for the last five years.

Opra is an independent statutory body established in 1995 to protect the interests of members of UK occupational pension schemes.
