NETHERLANDS – Blue Sky Group has named MeesPierson’s Marcel Blom as its new fund management head.
He is a former relationship manager at Fortis-owned trust and corporate services firm MeesPierson Intertrust.
According to a spokesperson for Blue Sky, which manages the pensions assets of airline KLM, Blom joined the pensions advisory and support group at the start of May.
Blom has replaced Ron van Unen, who left in November 2005 after more than 20 years.
The spokesperson told IPE that van Unen had joined a Zurich-based bank, although no further details could be obtained.
Blom reports to Blue Sky’s chief investment officer Fons Lute.
Blue Sky, with €9.4bnbn in assets under management, is headed by chief executive officer Toine van der Stee. The executive board also includes management support director Erik Voorhoeve, control and IT director Jos Keijzers and pension services director Orpa Bisschop.
Earlier this month, Blue Sky Group was appointed to run roughly €150m worth of assets of a UK scheme affiliated to KLM.
Fortis acquired MeesPierson in 1997. It provides services for private and corporate clients and their advisors. It has offices in 16 countries, including Belgium, Poland, Switzerland, the Netherlands and the UK.
