UK – Kevin O’Boyle, former UK pensions director at Royal & SunAlliance, has been appointed new head of pensions at phone giant British Telecom.
O’Boyle has replaced Annette Scott, who became secretary and manager of the Pearson publishing group’s £1bn (€1.5bn) defined benefit group pension in August.
O’Boyle started at the telecommunications giant on September 1 after leaving Royal & SunAlliance in August.
He is still finding his feet in his new position, according to a BT spokesperson.
Hermes Pensions Management’s Colin Hartridge-Price is secretary of the £50bn BT scheme, and will liaise with O’Boyle.
However, O’Boyle will be chiefly responsible for pension policy matters within BT, Hartridge-Price told IPE.
The new Royal & SunAlliance pensions director is pensions “troubleshooter” Jerry Gandhi of CAP Services Ltd. Gandhi started at the beginning of August.
Before joining Royal & SunAlliance in 2003, O’Boyle was head of global benefits at Marconi plc.
