FRANCE – CDC Ixis Asset Management has been voted the top French asset manager by France’s largest institutional investors, according to a survey conducted by consultants Amadeis.
The annual survey, conducted in November and December last year, evaluates 60 asset managers through eight criteria: sales, research, reporting and management of five asset classes, and was completed by the 48 largest French institutional investors - predominantly retirement institutions.
Five leaders were revealed - CDC Ixis AM, Credit Agricole AM, SGAM, Banque Louvre, and Edmond de Rothschild. The former four were also among the five leaders for 2001, and Edmond de Rothschild replaces Dexia in fifth place.
The survey revealed CDC Ixis AM, Credit Agricole AM, and Societe Generale AM to still be the most renowned for fixed income and balanced investments, while smaller managers such as Financiere Rothschild, Comgest, CCR Gestion and Rothschild et Cie. were considered best in the field of European and global equities.
Says Amadeis: “In those times of bearish markets, the active investment management used by these firms is more and more appreciated.”
Specialists in alternative investments were the preferred choice in that asset class – ADI, Dexia and Barep.
Amadeis was established in 2000 by two ex-Frank Russell consultants and specialises in investment consulting, manager advisory services and managers and market research.
