GLOBAL - David Rubenstein, chief financial officer and general counsel at BlueMountain Capital - a US-based investment company focused on the credit and equity derivatives markets - has been appointed chief executive at BlueMountain Europe.
Rubenstein, who will remain CFO and general counsel for the firm, has moved from New York to London to lead BlueMountain's European operations and will interact on a daily basis with the trader and investor community in Europe.
He started on 1 September, replacing Jeff Kushner, who is moving back to the US.
Rubenstein told IPE: "We have three main objectives. First, we will continue to expand and improve our team in London.
"We will then further enhance the connectivity between the London and New York offices with the aim of increasing our alpha generation on behalf of our investors.
"Finally, and as part of my role as general counsel, I will personally ensure a strong presence in the regulatory dialogue here in Europe, as BlueMountain has done in the US."
Prior to joining BlueMountain, Rubenstein co-founded Renaissance Integrated Solutions, a municipal infrastructure solutions company, where he was the senior vice-president of corporate development and general counsel.
Meanwhile, Adam Feldheim and Jonathan Moore have been appointed senior analysts within the London team and will report to Peter Greatrex, the firm's global head of research.
Feldheim joins from Morgan Stanley, where he was a credit analyst, while Moore joins from Evolution Securities.
Noam Leslau, who is responsible for investor relations, product development and client advisory for institutional investors globally, has also moved from New York to London.
Rubenstein said: "We do not have plans to grow the team immediately but as our assets grow and the investment landscape further develops, we will strategically assess the opportunity to add more talent to the London office."
