UK/US – Peter Chambers, chief investment officer (CIO) at Gartmore, has been appointed global CIO of the newly combined investment division of London based Gartmore and the US manager Villanova Capital.
The companies have worked together since Nationwide Mutual Insurance bought the UK manager in May 2000.
Villanova is the asset management arm of Columbus based Nationwide Financial Services, the holding company for the retirement savings and income operations of Nationwide Mutual Insurance.

As part of the deal, Gartmore’s US equity team will move from London to Villanova’s headquarters in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania on June 1.
The team manages US$2.6bn (e2.89bn) in assets for non-US clients.
“We will look to build on what has been achieved to date and continue to enhance our investment process in pursuit of unexpected growth opportunities around the world,” says Peter Chambers, the new CIO of the combined investment house.

Villanova Capital, with US$23bn in assets under management, serves as investment adviser to the Nationwide family of funds. It also sponsors institutional investment products through its subsidiary, Morley Financial Services, and through its venture with NorthPointe Capital.
