UK – David Chynoweth, chief executive of the 31.2 billion euro Universities Superannuation Scheme education pension fund, has retired after almost 10 years with the scheme.
Chynoweth stepped down at the end of June but will continue to act as a consultant to the fund until March 31 2004 to assist with the handover of duties to his successor.
In the meantime, the Liverpool-based fund has appointed an interim manager, Tom Merchant, to oversee the running of the organisation until Chynoweth’s successor is appointed.
In a statement, USS said: “The company is appreciative of the tremendous service David has given to the company since 1994 and appreciates his continued availability for assistance in the transitional arrangements. We wish him well in what we trust will be a long and happy retirement.”
