FRANCE- Simon Desrochers has returned to the consulting business after leaving BGI in Paris and joining Watson Wyatt as head of its benefits consulting team in France.
Desrochers spent most of his career at consultants Towers Perrin including a five-year spell as practice leader of its benefits team in Paris. He left in the summer of 2000 to join BGI in France and to head up business development and client service.
Says head of European benefits practice Babloo Ramamurthy: "Simon's appointment is a very important step in the development of Watson Wyatt's consulting business in France.
"We believe the demand for benefits consulting will expand rapidly over the coming years as the French market is liberalised, and both French and multinational employers focus more on pension and benefit issues."
Watson Wyatt’s benefit consulting department is relatively weak in France but is being beefed up. There are now forty associates in Paris, of which ten are on the benefits side. Last year the whole operation was fifteen strong.
