** European Insurance Federation appoints new chief executive **
Daniel Schanté has been appointed secretary general and chief executive of the Comité Européen des Assurances, the European insurance federation representing 29 national insurance associations.
Schanté has held various senior management posts in European insurance companies, most recently, he was a member of the board at Winterthur Europe and senior adviser to chief executive officer at Winterthur Insurance.
** SGAM bags Cockroft as local authority consultant **
Richard Cockroft moves to SG Asset Management as a local authority consultant after 40 years in the other end of the business, most recently as county treasurer of Gloucestershire. He was responsible for the county’s pension fund, and the president of the Society of County Treasurers.
** McKinnell to head Aon’s Glasgow office **
Andy McKinnell has been appointed as head of the Glasgow office of Aon Consulting. McKinnell, formerly at PricewaterhouseCoopers, will be responsible of the consultant’s actuarial and consulting teams in Glasgow.
** SEI appoints Slater as analyst **
Andrew Slater has been named as a senior analyst at the UK office of SEI Investments. Slater will be responsible for applying the company’s global strategies in the UK pension environment.
** Old Mutual boosts UK marketing team **
Bill Vasilieff is joining Old Mutual Life as marketing director of its London office, set to open at the beginning of 2002, and David Hazelton will be appointed UK sales director.
Vasilieff was previously director of group product development at M&G. Hazelton joins from Zurich IFA Group, where he is currently deputy sales director.
** Sarwal to head ABN AMRO ebusiness development **
Arun Sarwal has been appointed as managing director and head of electronic business and product development at the private client and asset management strategic business unit of ABN AMRO.
Previously, he was global head of electronic business development at the equities and technology divisions of Société Générale’s investment bank.
** Finlay to head up Mercer’s Mancester retirement team **
Jim Finlay is re-joining William M Mercer as head of retirement unit in its Manchester office. For a year, he worked for Mercer’s sister company Marsh Financial Services.
Rachel Eyres becomes retirement unit head at the company’s Liverpool office. Previously, she was senior consultant and actuary in the firm’s Manchester office.
** Gartmore makes strategic move for Devitt **
Kathleen Devitt is moving to Gartmore as strategy development manager at its continental Europe retail business. Formerly, she was at I-spire, a London based venture capital company.
** CSFB appoints real estate director **
Fredrik Elwing has been appointed as director of Real Estate Private Fund Group at Credit Suisse First Boston, which focuses on structuring and placing private indirect real estate funds. He was most recently at Security Capital.
** Whittaker leaves Russell UK marketing post **
Anthony Moore has joined Frank Russell Company UK as marketing director replacing Catherine Whittaker, who is leaving the firm but has yet to announce further plans.
