NETHERLANDS - Former ING pensions head Jan Nijssen has joined Dutch pensions consulting and law firm Montae's executive board in a move to expand the firm's pensions consultancy offerings.

Nijssen, the former global head of retirement services and chief executive of insurance central Europe at ING, will be in charge of Montae's expansion into "pension advice management for executives of pension funds and ventures" the firm announced today.

With the move, the firm is reacting to an "increasing need among entrepreneurs and executives for independent, professional advice to make the right pension policy choices for the short and the long term," Montae said.

Montae's founder and director Mike van Engelen commented that Montae will integrate the various sources and advice trajectories that entrepreneurs and executives face now.

Nijssen added: "I think that there are surprisingly few parties who cover the entire policy pension advice terrain on an independent basis."

Apart from these new activities, Van Engelen said that Montae "are also trying to find a business partner for an asset liability management component, something which we haven't got in-house at the moment, so that we can offer an entire palette."

For this the firm will start recruiting people who can execute this part of the advice management, the firm said.

Last month IPE reported that ING had disbanded its Global Retirement Services department.
 
Global head of pensions Violeta Ciurel, who had taken on some of the responsibilities of former head Nijssen when he left, was named as ING's new general manager of public and international affairs.
