UK - John Parkin, formerly chief investment officer of the fund of hedge fund team at Schroders, has re-surfaced at hedge fund group Aspect Capital.
He joins as director of distribution following Schroders' takeover of NewFinance Capital, operator of funds of hedge funds, earlier this year.
The acquisition, which created a business with £1.7bn (€2.5bn) of assets under management, led to "a transfer of some of Schroders' staff to NewFinance Capital and other members of the team looked for opportunities elsewhere", a spokesman for Schroders told IPE.
Earlier this month, Schroders reported a net outflow of institutional assets of £4.6bn bringing total assets under management down slightly from year-end 2005 at £122.3bn.
At Aspect, Parkin will focus on the development and execution of global distribution strategy.
"His wide breadth of senior practitioner experience in the field of alternative investments will help us considerably in further developing and expanding our now significant institutional investor client base her in the UK and globally," said chief commercial officer John Wareham.
The company currently holds £2bn under management with funds having increased by nearly 60% since December.
