NETHERLANDS - Peter Hans Budde, the country head of F&C's Dutch office in Amsterdam, has died at the age of 51.
Budde, who joined F&C in 2006 from Kempen Capital Management, died on July 27, after losing his battle with leukaemia.
Alain Grisay, F&C's chief executive, told IPE in a written statement today: "Peter Hans was a warm and highly professional colleague who made a major contribution to F&C Netherlands.
"He will be greatly missed by colleagues and clients," he added.
It is yet unclear if Budde will be replaced at F&C's Amsterdam office, though at the end of last year the company recruited Ben Kramer as head of distribution and business development for F&C Netherlands with the focus on growing the business and distribution capabilities in the Dutch market.
Budde served as director for institutional clients at Kempen Capital Management from October 2000 until August 2006, when he made the move to F&C.
Before his career at Kempen, he was a business development director at Robeco for a number of years.
Willem van Someren Greve, deputy chairman of Robeco and a former colleague of Budde, today remarked on Budde's charm and creativity as making him "a very special human being".
He particularly recounts Budde's unusual affinity for music, adding: "Frequently, he would organise concerts at his home, where you would sit with 25 people in his small living room listening to the modern and classical music performed mostly by very young artists, he had an enormous feeling for music."
Van Someren concluded: "He had an incredibly pleasant smile on that somewhat long, awkward face of his, with which he would charm you; he was wise, very erudite, could cook fantastically, and he was a real people's person."
