UK – Douglas Ferrans has been appointed as chief executive of asset management of the Halifax Group. He was previously marketing director of Britannic Asset Management.
The move follows Clerical Medical’s asset management expansion as it became the sole investment management arm of the Halifax Group in September 2000, and took over managing Equitable Life’s funds in March this year.
“Douglas Ferrans’s wealth of experience in fund management and marketing make him the ideal choice to head up our asset management business,” says James Crosby, chief executive of Halifax.
In 1997, as chief executive of Scottish Amicable Investment Managers he was responsible for the sale of its institutional business to Britannic Asset Management in Glasgow, and became marketing director of the company.
Clerical Medical and its subsidiaries have funds under management of around £65bn (e104bn).
