BENELUX – Fidelity has appointed Vanguard’s Theo van der Meer as head of institutional business in Benelux.

He takes on a role vacant since Hans Goossens left Fidelity to join Schroders last year.

Van der Meer will be based in Amsterdam and report to Peter Lord, managing director of the European institutional business, and Mike Nikou, the executive director for wholesale and retail in Benelux and Nordic regions.

Switzerland investment director Raoul van der Lugt, who had been overseeing the market, would work with van der Meer during a handover period.

Van der Meer was formerly head of business development at NIB Capital Asset Management, Fidelity said.

Lord said: “Our institutional clients across the Benelux markets represent an important and sizeable business for Fidelity with considerable growth potential.”

Vanguard spokesman Brian Mattes van der Meer was replaced by Ronald Nagel, who is a former head of investments for a Dutch pension fund and who spent six years advising institutional clients.
