** Finnish Central Pensions Institute appoints new MD **
Jukka Rantala has been named managing director of the Finnish Central Pension Security Institute (ETK), the supervisory body of earnings-related pensions. He will take up the position by the end of the year. Rantala, currently managing director of Federation of Finnish Insurance Companies, was chairman of the board of ETK in 1983-1992. Matti Uimonen, the incumbent managing director, will take up another position at the organisation until his retirement in two years time. He has been managing director of ETK since 1974.
** Logan runs to SWIP **
Steven Logan is leaving his position as a credit analyst at Standard Life Investments in Edinburgh to join Scottish Widows Investment Partnership as a fixed income fund manager in September. Logan will have responsibility for fixed income credit research and the management of corporate bond portfolios, reporting to Alan Reid, head of global bonds and economics at the manager. Prior to working at Standard Life, Logan was a credit analyst at The Sumitomo Trust and Banking Co.
** Gilbertson selected by IMS **
Giles Gilbertson, a senior research director at Standard & Poor’s Fund Research in New York, is joining London based multi-manager Investment Manager Selection as a research director at the beginning of July.
** SLC opts for Coffey **
Jane Coffey has been recruited as head of European equities at London based SLC Asset Management. Formerly director of European equities at Morley Fund Management, Coffey has worked as a senior fund manager at St Paul’s Investment Services, an associate director at Royal London Asset Management and a portfolio manager at Provident Mutual.
SLC has also appointed Jonathan Rehbein as an investment sales manager in its retail department.
** RLAM goes on sales drive **
Royal London Asset Management has appointed four new members to its sales and marketing team. Stan Bland, Andrew Dixon, John Foster and Lorig Maranjian will report to Christopher Edge, head of sales and marketing at the firm. Bland joins from Murray Johnstone and will develop strategies for growth in the retail sector for the company. Maranjian joins from New Star Asset Management as senior sales manager building relationships with consultants and trustees. Foster, previously at Entegria, will work together with Maranjian as sales manager. Dixon is an internet technician joining from Coates Lorilleux.
** Davey complies with Orbitex offer **
Barrie Davey has been appointed as compliance officer and company secretary for London based Orbitex Investments, with responsibilities for regulatory and business compliance. Previously, Davey was head of IMRO compliance at Liverpool Victoria Asset Management.
** Graves gets Personal **
Robert Graves is joining the Salisbury based self-invested personal pensions (SIPP) provider Personal Pension Management as technical development manager.
Graves, previously pensions product development manager at Lincoln Financial Group, provide technical support and information to the company’s clients and business partners.
