EUROPE - Jerry Gandhi has joined ATP to help with the launch of the Danish pension provider's new UK pension platform, which it hopes to unveil ahead of the rollout of auto-enrolment next year.

Gandhi joined in June as strategic consultant to help develop the new low-cost platform, which is likely to be launched later this year, according to Morten Nilsson, head of ATP international operations.

Prior to joining ATP, Gandhi worked as group pensions director at RSA Insurance Group for more than five years, having joined as interim UK pensions director following the departure of Kevin O'Boyle to BT in 2005.

In 1999, he founded C A P Services, a consultancy targeting occupational pension schemes, having spent most of the decade at Inchcape.

At Inchcape, he was initially in charge of UK pension operations but gradually took on responsibility for the company's global pension and benefit arrangements.

Gandhi's addition at ATP follows the appointment of former UK shadow pensions minister Nigel Waterson as an adviser earlier this year, after he lost his seat in the 2010 general election.

Speaking to IPE in February, Morten Nilsson said ATP's UK platform would work closely with the Danish in-house investment team and aim to be "cost-efficient" rather than cheap.
