NETHERLANDS – The former managing director of the 2.9 billion-euro Unilever Progress pension fund, Jos Van Niekerk, has taken over as director of the Dutch corporate governance foundation SCGOP.
Van Niekerk, who left Unilever in July, said the role is a new one as the workload of the foundation is increasing. He joined the Stichting Corporate Governance Onderzoek voor Pensioenfondsen, the Foundation for Corporate Governance Research for Pension Funds, in mid-January.
Roderick Munsters, managing director of investments at the 53 billion-euro Dutch healthcare fund PGGM, recently took over as SCGOP chairman from Peter de Koning.
Van Niekerk added that the foundation’s corporate governance handbook has been reviewed and adapted and would be available in the first half of March.
The changes follow the publication of the new Dutch corporate governance code, which came into force at the start of this year.
Van Niekerk was replaced at Unilever by Alco Vernooy, an official at the consumer goods firm said.
