National Association of Pension Funds - Lord Hutton, a former Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, is one of four joiners to the NAPF's policymaking councils. NAPF members voted Lord Hutton, author of a report on public sector pensions reform, to a vacant place on the Retirement Policy Council. The other experts elected are Richard Butcher, managing director at Pitmans Trustees; Kerrin Rosenberg, chief executive at Cardano Risk Management; and John Walbaum, partner at Hymans Robertson.
BlackRock - Graham Jung has been appointed head of EMEA institutional. He joins from KPMG, where he served as director in the investment advisory practice, advising UK pension schemes and other institutional investors on investment arrangements. He was previously at Goldman Sachs International in the prime brokerage business, but started his career at Watson Wyatt in the investment consulting business.
Ecofin Water & Power Opportunities - Paul Myners has been appointed to the board of directors as a non-executive and independent director. Lord Myners is a former chairman of Land Securities and Marks & Spencer. He was a Treasury minister in the last government and in 2010, became a director of RIT Capital Partners. He will start at Ecofin with immediate effect.
Universal Investment - Peter Flöck joins the management board to drive the expansion of the portfolio management business. Flöck previously worked in risk and overlay management and joined the company in 2007 as head of portfolio management. Prior to this, he worked at Deka Investment, overseeing its balanced fund offerings.
Premier - The pensions, benefits and actuarial firm has appointed Rob Cooper as senior consultant. He joins from Mercer, where he was involved in sales and client management roles for more than 20 years and advising UK companies and multinationals on pensions, benefit and reward strategies. He will be responsible for developing targeted campaigns across the business and various industry sectors.
Broadstone Pensions & Investments - Martyn Laverick has been appointed private client sales and marketing director. He joins from Jelf Financial Planning, where he worked as managing director for two years. Before then, he held senior positions at AWD Chase de Vere and Charcol Holden Meehan and also founded Chartwell Investment Management.
Legal & General Investment Management - Simon Thompson has been appointed as COO. He was previously at Millgate Capital, where he was a partner and served as COO, and joined LGIM in 2011. He began his career in 1991 trading derivatives at Nomura International. Separately, Andrew Hitchings had been appointed head of large UK clients, joining from State Street Global Advisors.
Swiss Re - CIO David Blumer has decided to leave the company, effective 1 November. Blumer joined Swiss Re in May 2008 as head of asset management and a member of the executive committee. Before joining Swiss Re, he had been a member of the executive board at Credit Suisse. The board of directors said a successor would be announced in due course.
