GLOBAL – Pension Protection Fund, AHV, Generali, LGIM, Threadneedle, Ashcourt, Partnership
Pension Protection Fund (PPF) – The PPF's head of insolvency and restructuring, Richard Favier, will be stepping down later this year after eight years. He will be replaced by Malcolm Weir. The move comes after Favier was selected as a fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy. He was inducted as a fellow at a ceremony at the Smithsonian Donald W Reynolds Centre for American Art and Portraiture on 15 March. The honour recognises professional excellence and exceptional contributions in the fields of bankruptcy and insolvency.
AHV – The Swiss first pillar fund is looking for a new investment manager for its fixed income team. The recruitment process comes as part of plans to expand in-house asset management capacity. Board members Marco Netzer and Eric Breval confirmed to IPE that the move to strengthen in-house capacity was made in agreement with the new head of asset management Frank Juliano. The fund is looking to make additional hires in the coming months.
Generali – Laszlo Hrabovszki will join the board of the German pension fund of Generali, Pensor, on 1 April. Hrabovszki is currently heading an actuarial department, which will be integrated into the Enterprise Risk Management division of the pension fund, a spokesperson for Generali told IPE.
Legal & General Investment Management (LGIM) – The firm has promoted Andrew Hitchings to head of UK institutional business. Hitchings joined LGIM in September 2012, as head of large UK clients, from State Street Global Advisors. Additionally, LGIM has reinforced its institutional client team by appointing Johan Rydqvist as European sales manager and John Tsalos as head of defined contribution distribution and product strategy. Victoria Parrish has been appointed head of RFPs and marketing analytics, while Taryn Leibbrandt joins as client relationship manager.
Threadneedle Investments – The asset manager has promoted Nick Ring to the position of head of distribution. Ring replaces Campbell Fleming, who became chief executive on 1 March. As head of distribution, Ring will be responsible for leading Threadneedle's sales, client service, marketing and product development efforts. He has also been appointed to the company's business executive committee. Ring will report to Fleming.
Ashcourt Rowan – Gaius Jones has joined the financial planning and wealth management firm as chief executive of Ashcourt Rowan Financial Planning. He will take over from Chris Williams, who will leave later this year. Jones will be responsible for driving the management and development of the financial planning business across the UK as part of the group's growth plans.
Partnership – The annuity provider has expanded its defined benefit solutions team by appointing Mike Walsh as head of DB solutions and Martin Parker as a senior member of its team. These two new appointments coincide with Partnership's expansion in the DB de-risking area.
