GLOBAL – Varma Mutual, Pensions Administration Standards Association, AllenbridgeEpic, FCP, Catella, Thesis Asset Management, DDJ, Legal & General Investment Management, Source Pensions
Varma Mutual Pension Insurance Company – Risto Murto, currently deputy chief executive at Finnish pensions insurer Varma, has been appointed to the post of president and chief executive of the company. He will replace Matti Vuoria, who is set to retire at the end of this year, and take up his position on 1 January 2014. Murto joined Varma in 2006 and was previously managing director and a director at Helsinki investment management firm Opstock.
Pensions Administration Standards Association (PASA) – The independent body has appointed new members to its board at its recent board election. The newly elected members include Gary Evans of Mercer, Michael Mann of Ensign Pensions Administration, Richard Thomas from Punter Southall and Deborah White from Capita Employee Benefits.
AllenbridgeEpic Investment Advisers – The firm has appointed Benedicte Rabier as a sector specialist. Rabier has more than 12 years' experience within the hedge fund industry and has worked at Société Générale Asset Management, Natixis, Lehman Brothers and Barclays.
Future Capital Partners (FCP) – The firm has appointed Peter Conway as head of energy investment. Conway will be responsible for FCP's portfolio of energy projects and identify new energy opportunities including wind, wave, solar, biofuels, oil and gas. The firm has also appointed Ian Pugh as business development manager.
Catella – The board of directors has appointed Knut Pedersen as president and chief executive. He joins from ABG Sundal Collier in Sweden, where he was managing director. Pedersen will take up his post on 1 January 2014. In the meantime, Johan Ericsson will remain president and chief executive, continuing in a senior operational role.
Thesis Asset management – The company has bolstered its investment team with the appointment of Tom Low as an investment manager. Low be responsible for managing client portfolios and working with intermediary firms to increase sales.
DDJ Capital Management – The institutional investment manager has recruited John O'Connor, an investment management industry executive, to the newly created position of senior vice-president. O'Connor, who took up his role this week, will head business development and client service.
Legal & General Investment Management (LGIM) – Justin Onuekwusi is joining LGIM as a fund manager focusing on retail and risk-profiled multi-asset funds. Onuekwusi joins the strategic investment and risk management team, which specialises in multi-asset solutions and pooled funds.
Source Pensions – The administration and investment fund platform for occupational pension schemes has appointed Stephen Mason as its UK administration manager. His role at will be to ensure the efficient running of administration and the delivery of Source's communications strategy around auto enrolment.
