** Garrood to head up investment operations at Hendersons **
Shirley Garrood has been appointed director of investment operations at Henderson Global Investors. Garrood will be responsible for investment management activities that support fund management, sales and marketing.
She will head two teams, one responsible investment support and the other in charge of development and management of investment management processes.
Garrood joins from Morley Fund Management where she was chief operating officer.

** Helsinki consultancy appoints new MD **
Juha Kivinen has moved to Helsinki based consultancy Pensionservice to the position of managing director, prior to the company’s restructuring starts on May 1. the former managing director, Eero Gauffin, will continue as director, together with Synnöve Hesso.

** Moore to service European Global Link clients **
State Street has announced the appointment of Alan Moore as managing director responsible for the European client services group of State Street Global Link.
Moore was previously responsible for the sales and trading desk at State Street’s foreign exchange and money markets group in London.
He will report to Stephen Smit, managing director and head of Global Link, Europe.

** Snowdon to lead tpTechnology Solutions in Europe **
Margaret Snowdon has been recruited as European leader of its tpTechnology Solutions practice. She moves from Sedgwick Noble Lowndes, where she was a director, with responsibilities including pensions and benefits consulting, managing regional operations and administration policy.
She is currently a director OPAS, the Pensions Advisory Service and a fellow and former vice president of the Pensions Management Institute.

** FIS selects Thornton for product development **
Greg Thornton has been appointed head of product development at Friends Ivory & Sime. The appointment follows the company’s launch of retail investment products through the acquisition of investment business Friends Provident.
He was previously product development manager at Chase Fleming Asset Management.

** Clarke to Morley **
Tanya Clarke has joined Morley Fund Management’s corporate research team as a global oils and chemicals analyst. Formerly, she worked for the global portfolio group at Chase Asset Management in energy and basic materials sector research.
At the same time, Richard Purkiss and Henry Astarajian have been appointed as biotechnology analysts at the company.

** AMF appoints Nordström **
Fredrik Nordström has been promoted to managing director of the Swedish AMF Pension’s fund management company. He has been a macroeconomist and a strategist at AMF Pension since 1997. Nordström replaces Sten Kottmeier who has retired.
Meanwhile, Lil Håkanson has been appointed as head of personnel at AMF Pension, a position in which she will focus on culture and policy questions. Formerly, she worked at Handelsbanken.

Commerzbank Securities has appointed three analysts to its expanding credit research team.
Alaric Sang Hu joins as a senior high-yield analyst based in London and focusing on European telecommunications.
Steven Altman takes up the position of senior high-grade analyst in New York, where he will specialise in coverage of the US gaming industry.
Giorgia Tidei joins as a junior analyst in London after working in fixed income sales for Commerzbank since 1998.
