EUROPE – Goldman Sachs Asset Management has named Hywel George and Stuart McPherson as its new co-chief investment officers for its European equity business.
“These new positions have been created to ensure that the European equity team has the appropriate resources to manage the firm’s continued success in attracting new mandates,” the company said in a statement.
“Hywel and Stuart will be responsible for all aspects of the European equity business, including portfolio management, research and product management,” Goldman said. “They will both report to Susan Noble, chief investment officer, London active equities.”
George joined Goldman’s asset management arm in 1999 after 11 years at Mercury Asset Management. McPherson joined in 1996 from CIN Management.
Noble said: “These new promotions reflect our continuing commitment to our growing European Equity business.”
Goldman Sachs Asset Management has more than 282.5 billion dollars in assets under management globally. It is the 11th largest manager of European pension fund assets, with 32.5 billion dollars of such assets under management.
