UK - Northern Trust Global Investments says it has hired Hermes Focus Asset Management’s manager of UK investments, Helen Macdonell.
NTGI said in a release that it has hired Macdonell as a portfolio manager in its 1.2 billion-dollar active international equity team in London. Macdonell joins a six-strong team under international equities head Stephen Dowds, who joined NTGI in April from Prudential Bache International’s Dryden Capital Management.
Northern Macdonell she was previously manager, UK investments at Hermes Pensions Management’s Hermes Focus Asset Management. Macdonell’s move to NTGI follows the high-profile resignations of top Hermes managers Peter Butler and Steve Brown.
A Hermes spokeswoman said Macdonell left a couple of weeks ago and would probably be replaced.
“Her expertise and previous experience will complement the current team’s existing range of skills and capabilities,” Dowds said. “Her appointment advances our strategy to grow the active international equity team in London as we prepare to launch a global active product in 2005.”
“This is an exciting time for NTGI and I am delighted to be a part of the firm as it continues to grow its business in London and build on its reputation as an innovative provider of investment solutions to sophisticated institutional and high net worth investors around the world,” Macdonell said.
The appointment is effective immediately, a spokesman said.
Earlier this month NTGI announced the appointment of State Street Global Advisors’ Heico de Boer as a sales director for Continental Europe.
