NETHERLANDS – Patrick Bronger, senior investment manager at the €5.3bn Hoogovens pension fund, has joined Robeco’s hedge fund department.

Robeco said Bronger is now senior investment manager at Robeco Alternative Investments.

It said: “Mr. Bronger joined Robeco's hedge fund department in 2005 from Stichting Pensioenfonds Hoogovens, where, as a senior investment manager, he was responsible for tactical asset allocation, derivatives and the directional part of the absolute return portfolio of the pension plan.”

He joined fund of the former Dutch steel group in 2002, it added. Bronger teaches a course in ethics and professional standards and GIPS performance standards at Amsterdam's Vrije Universiteit.

Last month IPE reported that the scheme had introduced two investment portfolios to enhance transparency, as part of its solvency commitments.

The fund has around 37,000 members, of which 12,000 are active, 15,000 are pensioners and 10,000 are deferred.
