UK - Cara MacGregor will join HSBC Investments' multi-manager team from Investment Solutions in April.
MacGregor, who was senior research analyst at the specialist multi-manager investment company, will take on the new role of HSBC's global emerging markets equity analyst.
She will be based in London and report to James Hughes, head of multi-manager (UK and offshore).
Hughes said MacGregor's appointment as a global emerging markets equity analyst reflected HSBC Investments' philosophy of applying specialist researchers to individual sectors. He added that HSBC Investments "has become a serious force in the multi-manager arena".
Elsewhere, Alex Buffet, former joint chief executive of Société Générale Asset Management's UK operation, has been promoted to become the group's head of marketing.
Succeeding Jean-François Hirschel, Buffet will move from London to Paris and will also become a member of SGAM's executive committee.
In October last year, the firm already announced that Jean-Baptiste Segard, former head of corporate clients in continental Europe, would take over as CEO in the UK.
Previously, Buffet, founding chief operating officer, was joint CEO of the UK operation together with John Richards, founding managing director.
Richards decided to focus entirely on asset management, as a specialist UK equity fund manager and head of asset allocation.
