NETHERLANDS – Dutch financial services group ING is set to appoint prominent US life insurance figure, Luella Gross Goldberg, as a member of its supervisory board.

Goldberg, a member of the board of US life insurer ReliaStar Financial Corporation, which ING acquired in May last year, is also a board member of a number of US companies including Hormel Foods Corporation an NRG Energy.
ING Group’s Central Works Council have already approved the appointment, which will be put to the AGM of shareholders on April 17.

If accepted, Goldberg will join Godfriend van der Lugt, the former chairman of the executive board of ING, who moves up to the supervisory role on April 18.
Ger Verhaegen will step down as a supervisory board member, having reached the age limit of 72 years.
