UK – Insight Investment has appointed Mark Ahern from Lazard Asset Management as director and head of institutional client services in London.

Ahern was formerly senior vice president at Lazard AM, responsible for all aspects of institutional business in London. Prior to this, he worked for Wellington Management Company in Boston, where he was responsible for client service.

At Insight, Ahern will lead the team of nine client directors, and will report to Mark Connolly, institutional managing director.

Commenting on the appointment Connolly said: “Insight has ambitious growth plans for its institutional business, and we will only succeed if we continue to recruit market-leading talent.” Ahern’s role has been newly created.

Insight Investment Management is the asset manager of HBOS plc. At the end of January this year, Insight acquired the institutional, retail and offshore business of Rothschild Asset Management.

Insight’s assets under management totalled 64.6 billion pounds (93.1 billion euros) as of end March 2003.
