GERMANY – Investec Asset Management has appointed former Bank of Ireland Asset Management Europe head Robert Hau as senior salesperson in Germany.

Investec Asset Management worldwide chief executive Hendrik du Toit told IPE that Investec was becoming more active in the German-speaking region.

Hau will be based in Germany, but will also be spending “a significant amount of time” in London, said du Toit.

But Hau, who lives in Frankfurt, will not be heading up a German sales team.

IPE understands that this appointment is linked to Investec Asset Management’s increasing capabilities.

A spokesperson for Investec said that the new position will be finalised in the coming weeks, but did not give a date.

“We are putting the finishing touches to it,” he said, but refused to comment any further.

According to its UK website, Investec Asset Management had £25.7bn (€37.5bn) worth of assets under management globally as at 31 August 2005.
