UK - Jardine Lloyd Thompson has named Eddie McGuire as managing director of its Glasgow-based Scottish benefits unit, JLT Benefit Solutions Scotland, a new role.

"McGuire will be part of JLT's growing team who target the life company sector and the Scottish corporate pensions market," JLT said. "Having previously worked at Hazell Carr, McGuire brings 18 years of industry experience with him."

"This is a new role, Eddie will be looking after 60 staff in the Glasgow office," a spokeswoman said.

"Over the past few months we have recruited a number of senior executives to our business, demonstrating both our growth in and commitment to the employee benefits market," said corporate development director Duncan Howorth.

"I believe that JLT has a very strong proposition both in the life company sector and in promoting pensions services to trustees and corporate entities," McGuire said.

JLT said last month that it still aims to grow its UK employee benefits business "substantially". It said it has looked at possible acquisitions in the employee benefits industry.

At the start of this month, Abingdon-based outsourcing firm Hazell Carr named Darryl Boulton as chief executive.
