DENMARK - Lærernes Pension, the DKK20.1bn €2.7bn Danish teachers’ pension fund, has awarded mandates to Aberdeen Asset Management, MFS and Sydbank.

Aberdeen has gained $50m in Asia ex-Japan equities, said Lærernes portfolio manager Anders Bertramsen.

Boston-based MFS Investment Management has been awarded $75m in a broad emerging market debt brief while Denmark’s Sydbank has gained a $17m pure local currency mandate.

Some of the assets were new money and some was reallocation, Bertramsen said.

“We were actually only underweight in emerging market debt, whereas we have increased our overweight in Asia ex-Japan equities.”

“We believe that Asia is one of the growing economies going forward,” Bertramsen added.

The mandates were originally tendered via IPE-Quest.
