Goldman Sachs Asset Management, UMR, Deutsche Asset & Wealth Management, SVGIM, Principles for Responsible Investment
Goldman Sachs Asset Management (GSAM) – Kathleen Hughes has been named head of the firm’s institutional business. Recruited by GSAM in 2010 as head of the global liquidity sales team, she will continue in this role in addition to her new appointment. Prior to joining the firm, she was head of global liquidity sales for Europe, Middle East and Africa at JP Morgan Asset Management.
UMR – Christian Oyarbide, appointed temporary chief executive at the €10.2bn French pension fund earlier this year, will see his contract extended until next year. Oyarbide, who became head of UMR in May replacing Charles Vaquier, was originally appointed until August 2013. He will stay in his role until August 2014, IPE understands.
Deutsche Asset & Wealth Management – Martin Weithofer has been appointed managing director and head of smart beta within the Passive Asset Management division. He joins from Assenagon Asset Management, where he was managing director at Assenagon Client Service and at Assenagon. Before then, he spent 10 years at HVB/Unicredit Bank AG Munich, where he held roles in structured retail product sales in Germany and Austria.
SVGIM – Peter Williams has been appointed to the Industrial Advisory Panel at SVGIM, which invests in UK equities by applying private equity techniques to public markets. He replaces Ken Minton, who joined in 2004 and has recently retired. Williams is a senior independent director, chair of the Audit Committee and a member of the Nominations and Remuneration Committees for Perform Group, as well as a director at Ibis Media VCT. SVGIM recently announced that it is being acquired by Hansa Aktiengesellschaft from parent company SVG Capital.
Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI) – Peter Webster, chief executive at EIRIS, a provider of ESG research for investors, has been elected to one of the two non-asset owner positions open for election this year.
