GLOBAL - Finanstilsynet, NIBC, F&C Asset Management, Carne Global Financial Services, Investec Asset Management, Kames Capital, Barnett Waddingham
Finanstilsynet - Carsten Brogaard has been appointed director of the newly formed pension funds division at the Danish financial regulator. The new division has been formed from the former life assurance and pension funds division, split into two earlier this year. Per Plougmand Bærtelsen remains director of the life assurance division. Brogaard comes from a post in Nordea Wholesale Banking and was previously a director in the Ministry of Economic and Business Affairs, where he was responsible for financial legislation and supervision.
NIBC - Petra van Hoeken has been appointed chief risk officer and a member of the managing board at investment bank NIBC, as of 1 January 2012. She will succeed Jan Sijbrand, who has become executive director of the governing board at pensions supervisor De Nederlandsche Bank. Currently, Van Hoeken is chief risk officer for Europe, the Middle East and Africa at RBS.
F&C Asset Management - Chief executive Alain Grisay is set to retire at the end of the third quarter of 2012. He will step down from the board and as group chief executive at the AGM in May 2012 and thereafter remain available for consultation and advice until the end of September 2012. Edward Bramson has been appointed executive chairman for an interim period with immediate effect.
Carne Global Financial Services - Thomas Nummer has joined as managing director from Allianz Global Investors Luxembourg, where he was chief risk officer. Nummer is an established figure in Luxembourg’s fund management industry and co-chair of ALFI’s risk management committee. He is also a member of PRiM, Luxembourg’s risk management association.
Investec Asset Management - Therese Niklasson has joined as head of environmental, social and corporate governance research. She joins from Threadneedle Investments, where she was head of governance and responsible investment. She has also worked at SustainAbility, Core Ratings and Global Water Intelligence.
Kames Capital - Jonathan Taylor has been appointed as business development and consultant relations manager at Kames Capital. Taylor, who started his role at the end of last month, will introduce and sell products to pension funds either directly or indirectly through the consultant network. Prior to joining Kames, Taylor was vice-president of business development at Tokio Marine Asset Management.
Barnett Waddingham - The UK-based pensions consultant has appointed three new staff in its Liverpool office. Steve Elliott - who has more than 35 years of experience in financial services, most recently at Royal Liver - joins as part of the investment team. Suzanne Martland joins the actuarial team from Mercer, while Helen Kay joins as an actuarial assistant on the graduate scheme.
