GLOBAL - Etera Mutual Insurance Company, Close Asset Management, GSAM State Street, Olive Tree Securities, Strategic Insight, Religare Enterprises Ltd.

Etera - Jari Puhakka will join the Finnish pensions insurance company next month as investment director and become part of the management board. He was recently a member of the board and investment director at Pohjola Asset Management, and prior to this was a portfolio manager at Ilmarinen.

Close Asset Management - Nancy A. Curtin has been named as chief investment officer, as part of a wider integration of the Fortune Asset Management investment team into Close Asset Management.  Curtin became CIO at Fortune - now 100% owned by Close - in 2003.

Goldman Sachs Asset Management - Yvo van der Pol has joined as an executive director in the Benelux third-party distribution team. He previously worked at Société Générale AM in a similar role.

State Street - John Herrmann has joined the Global Markets global macro strategy team as a senior fixed income strategist based in Boston, and will report to Michael Metcalfe, global head of macro strategy. He was previously president of Herrmann Forecasting LLC, a consultancy focused on providing value analysis and forecasting real-time events.

Olive Tree Securities - Steve Wood as a non-executive director to its board. Until recently, he was global head of trading at Schroders Investment Management.

Strategic Insight - The New York-based provider of data, research and consultancy to investment management and distribution companies has appointed Andreas Pfunder as managing director for Europe at its new London office. Jamie Maak, global business development manager, is also moving to London.

Religare Enterprises Limited - The firm is setting up a dedicated asset management, sales and distribution platform in Japan and has a team from KBC Financial Products, Japan. The management team comprises Koichi Kane as chairman and board member, Takuya Koyama as CEO and board member, Mitsuhiro Morita as head of sales, Yuichi Sakuma as head of compliance and Masako Oyama as head of client services.
