GLOBAL - Valida Vorsorge Management, Baring Asset Management, International Asset Management, Northern Trust, SEB Denmark, Actis, Paradigm Financial Advisers, Mercer, Woodbine Associates
Valida Vorsorge Management - Georg Dax joins the Austrian pensionskasse Valida Pension (formerly ÖPAG) and the severance pay fund Valida Plus (formerly ÖVK) as board member. His remit will include asset management, sales and finances in the pensionskasse and sales and legal services in the severance pay fund. He is replacing Bernhard Breunlich, who will become a member of the management board of the Valida Holding, of which both Valida Pension and Valida Plus are subsidiaries. Dax joins from the Valida parent company Raiffeisen, were he was on the board of asset management arm Raiffeisen Vermögensverwaltungsbank (RVV).
Baring Asset Management - Andrew Benton joins as head of UK and International institutional sales, responsible for all London-based institutional sales. Benton, who for the last five years worked at Schroders, will report to George Harvey, head of sales, business development and client service.
Barings has also appointed Naoki Toyoda as head of mutual fund sales and client service in Japan, charged with the growth of the company’s Toshin fund range. Toyoda, who previously worked for Aberdeen Asset Management and AllianceBerstein Japan, will report to Ryohei Shimazaki, president of Baring Asset Management Japan.
International Asset Management - Nan Mead has been appointed as vice-president of client development. Mead, who has previously worked at Ivy and Credit Suisse, will be based in New York and report to Andrew Cade, head of client development and marketing.
Northern Trust - Penelope Biggs has been appointed head of the institutional investor group for EMEA. Biggs was previously head of business development, marketing, product and strategy for the company’s asset servicing business in the region and will continue to chair Northern Trust’s Retirement Solutions Practice, a group advising on the global retirement market.
SEB Denmark - Mark Luscombe has been appointed the head of client relationship management and deputy head of merchant banking. He was previously country officer and head of banking at Citigroup Denmark and will assume his new role in the autumn.
Actis - Amanda Jean-Baptiste will join the real estate group as a director, focusing on deals across Africa. Based in London, she will report to head of real estate David Morley.
Paradigm Financial Advisers - Philippa Gee has joined PFA’s adviser network and will soon start her own company, Philippa Gee Wealth Management, advising both individuals and corporates. Gee most recently worked for T Bailey.
Mercer - Deborah Cowell has been appointed principal and senior consultant at the company’s health and benefits business based in London. Cowell was previously head of the health and risk benefits group at Hewitt.
Woodbine Associates - Ryan Surprenant has been appointed director of sales for the research and advisory company. Surprenant joins from Aite Group and previously worked for the Financial Institution Division of Columbia Management Distributors
