APG - Céline van Asselt has been appointed chief finance and risk officer of APG’s asset management branch APG AM. Before joining, Van Asselt served as deputy director of risk management at insurer ASR, where she was responsible for the implementation of the Solvency II programme of ASR Netherlands. Before then, she worked in marketing, business development and asset management at bank MeesPierson and insurer Fortis.

Aon Hewitt - René Van Leggelo has been appointed to the consultancy’s global benefits team, advising multinational companies on all aspects of pensions and benefit arrangements. Van Leggelo, who will be based in Paris, joins after four years with Axa, where he was head of international group pensions. Before then, he worked at Dexia Insurance and Pensions Solutions, Tillinghast-Towers Perrin and ING Belgium.

BlackRock - David Snowdon has joined the company’s UK defined contribution business, focusing on business development. He joins for Barclays, where he spent six years as an employee benefit consultant in charge of providing advice to and developing relationships with corporate clients. He has also worked for Sedgwick IFC and Towers Watson.

Cronje & Yiannas - Stephan Cronje and Marios Yiannas have set up a new actuarial consulting firm based in Cyprus. Cronje previously worked for Towers Watsons in London and New York for eight years in pensions and international benefits practices. He also spent three years at Aon Hewitt in Greece, where he led the retirement and financial services team for the Middle East. Yiannas joins from Aon Hewitt in Cyprus, where over the last five years he was responsible for investment consulting. Before then, he spent four years at Towers Watsons in London.

Hermes BPK Partners - Robert F Wescott has joined the alternative advisory boutique as chairman. Wescott is founder and president of Keybridge Research LLC, an economic analysis firm based in Washington, DC. He has also worked for several G-7 governments, major financial institutions and Fortune 500 companies since 2001, focusing on global macroeconomics, financial risks and public policy research. From 1999 until 2001, he served US president Bill Clinton as special assistant for economic policy at the White House.

KAS Bank - Steven Polese has joined as relationship manager to the UK institutional investors team. He joins from HSBC, where he was relationship manager. Polese started at RBS before moving onto F&C Asset Management. From F&C, he moved to Bank of New York and from there to HSBC, where he has worked for the last four years.

JLT Investment Consulting - Peter Martin has been appointed head of manager research, while Alex Weiland has been appointed head of development. Martin joins after a long career at Aon Hewitt, while Weiland has more than 40 years’ experience on the consultant and fund management sides.

Fidelity Worldwide Investment - Paras Anand has been appointed head of pan-European equities, while Richard Lewis has joined as head of global equities. Anand, who is currently head of European equities, will join in the New Year. Lewis, who was co-head at New Star Institutional Managers, will join at the start of November.

Principal Global Investors Europe - Carl McAndrew has joined as director and head of consultant relations, based in London. He joins from Unigestion, where he was a director responsible for specialist institutional sales in the UK. He has also held senior roles at Bank of Ireland Asset Management, Credit Suisse Asset Management and Nomura Asset Management.

Fischer Francis Trees & Watts - The global fixed income partner of BNP Paribas Investment Partners has hired Rena Walsh as head of money markets. She joins from State Street Global Advisors, where she led the money market team. Before then, she was a vice-president and senior portfolio adviser at PNC Investment Management (BlackRock).

Carnegie ASA - Anders Onarheim, managing director of Carnegie’s Norwegian operations, is leaving the company due to “differences over future strategy”. Frans Lindelöw, chief executive at Carnegie and chairman at Carnegie ASA, said the recruitment process to find his successor had already begun.

F&C Investments - Sara Stacey has been appointed as head the company’s institutional marketing activities. She joins from BlueBay Asset Management, where she worked as marketing a communications manager. Before then, she worked at Pictet Asset Management, where she was responsible for marketing services.

Ortec Finance - Andrew Caird has joined as head of investment performance for the UK. He joins from Summit Investor Services, an analytics and compliance monitoring software firm he founded in 2008. His responsibilities include new business, account management and providing a UK perspective for product development.

Dalton Strategic Partnership - Nick Horton has joined as a partner to head up the company’s institutional business. Horton joined Dalton in August from Lazard Asset Management, where he was senior vice-president.
