GLOBAL - BlackRock, Unigestion, Governance for Owners, B&CE, Barnett Waddingham, International Association of Consulting Actuaries
BlackRock - Philipp Hildebrand, the former chairman of the Swiss National Bank, will join BlackRock in October as vice-chairman for client relationships. Hildebrand resigned from his previous role as chairman of the Swiss National Bank in January after it was revealed that his currency trader wife Kashya Hildebrand executed a number of personal trades weeks before a cap on the franc price was introduced. He will be based in BlackRock’s London office and serve as a member of the global executive committee, as well as its EMEA and Asia Pacific counterparts.
Unigestion - Frances Smyth has been appointed director of institutional clients for the UK. She joins from AllianceBernstein, where she was director of client relations, responsible for the sales of the institutional investment products and client service. Before then, she held various roles at ITG Europe, Mercer Investment Consulting and McKinsey & Co.
Governance for Owners - Stephen Cohen has been appointed chief executive and will assume his new position at the asset manager on 24 July. Cohen has been a director of Montanaro Asset Management, Troika Dialog and Putnam Investments. Before then, he held a number of senior executive positions at Mercury Asset Management, where he worked for 19 years. Founding partner and current chief executive Peter Butler will continue to be involved in the business in a part-time capacity.
B&CE - The pensions provider has announced the appointment of the board of trustees for its automatic enrolment solution, The People’s Pension. Steve Delo, chief executive at PAN Governance, will be appointed chairman, while Alan Pickering, chairman of BESTrustees, will also join as a director of the new trust company. Wholly independent directors will run The People’s Pension Trustee Limited; there will be no B&CE directors or employees sitting on its board.
International Association of Consulting Actuaries - Barnett Waddingham partner Andrew Vaughan has been elected chair of the IACA. Vaughan has also recently been elected chairman of the Association of Consulting Actuaries. The IACA is the consulting section of the International Actuarial Association.
