AUSTRIA – Consultant William M. Mercer has acquired Vienna based Constantia Neuberger Bednar and Partner BesmbH (CNB), the Austrian employee benefits and retirement consulting company.

CNB has acted as Mercer’s correspondent in Austria for some time but the acquisition gives Mercer its first formal Austrian office.
The Vienna base will work closely with Mercer’s consultancy outfit in Germany as well as the Austrian operations of its sister company, Marsh.

The new office will continue to be headed up by Kurt Bednar, CNB’s managing director and one of its founding partners. He will also be Mercer’s country head for Austria.
CNB had 12 employees overall, including Bednar.

Says Edouard Merette, head of Mercer’s consulting operations in Ireland and continental Europe: “This acquisition allows us to establish a strong presence in Austria and to expand the range of consulting services there.”
