GERMANY – Mercer Investment Consulting is to launch a new investment consulting practice in Germany.

Two senior investment consultants have been hired for the new practice in Frankfurt. Herwig Kinzler and Erik Crawford have joined Mercer from Towers Perrin in Germany where they were senior consultants.

Kinzler will head up the new operation, and will be responsible for introducing key areas of investment consulting to the German market, including advice on investment strategy, manager selection and asset-liability-modelling.

The German office has been set up in response to demand, says Marco Arteaga, head of Mercer Human Resource Consulting in Germany: “Increasingly our German clients are looking for expert advice on investment matters.”

Over the last 12 months Mercer has also established local operations in France and Austria.

Says Divyesh Hindocha, head of Ireland and Continental Europe at Mercer Investment Consulting: “The bear market has prompted European institutional investors to rethink their investment strategies and seek outside advice. We hope to capitalise on these opportunities.”
