EUROPE - Sarah Melvin, strategy manager at Gartmore Investment management, has left to join Merrill Lynch Investment Management as director of strategy and business development in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
The move follows a £500m management buyout at Gartmore earlier this summer.
In the new role, Melvin "will provide advice and direction in all areas of business strategy and development and will help build on the momentum MLIM has achieved in the region," MLIM said.
Chris Rimmer, MLIM's chief administrative officer in the region, said Melvin would help ensure the firm was well positioned for market growth.
Meanwhile, Insight Investment has appointed Diane Stanning as senior portfolio managers in a move to expand its financial solutions group.
She will be responsible for developing and managing liability driven investment (LDI) strategies for pension fund clients in the 14-strong team.
She was previously a director in Schroders' strategic solutions team.
