UK - Merrill Lynch Investment Managers has hired Henderson Global Investors client relationship head Gareth Davies.

MLIM said he’ll be a director of its UK relationship management team for institutional business.

It said: “He joins from Henderson Global Investors where he was director of institutional business and head of client relationship management.

“Gareth will be based in London and will report to Juliet Bullick, Head of UK Institutional Relationship Management.”

Davies will oversee client management for largely UK defined benefit pension fund clients and work with MLIM’s Strategic Advice Service. He was formerly at JP Morgan Fleming Asset Management and Bacon & Woodrow, MLIM said.

“Gareth joins us at an exciting time for MLIM’s institutional business,” said Andrew Dyson, MLIM’s head of European institutional business.

“The range of products and services available to our DB and DC clients is broadening as our business grows. We have an industry-leading capability in liability driven investment with over £12bn in assets under management and we are pioneering improved investment approaches for members of defined contribution schemes.”
